GoM Prepares Draft Outline for Telangana Formation
New Delhi, Oct 11 (INN): The Group of Minister (GoM) on Telangana on Friday discussed a draft outline for the formation of Telangana State through bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
The GoM, which met here for the first time under the chairmanship of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, discussed the Telangana issue for over an hour. According to sources, the GoM has prepared a list of issues to be addressed and the priorities to be accorded to them. They include demarcation of boundaries, sharing of resources and revenues, law and order and creation of legal framework. They also discussed the ongoing agitation in the Seemandhra region over the bifurcation.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the full-fledged meeting of GoM would take place on October 19. He assured that the GoM would address the concerns raised by everyone on the issue with complete fairness and objectivity.
It may be mentioned that two ministers including AK Antony, who headed a high-powered committee earlier, did not participate in Friday’s meeting. (INN)
