Curfew Relaxed For Nine Hours in Vizianagaram
Visakhapatnam, Oct 11 (INN): Almost a week after imposition of curfew, the Vizianagaram town is returning to normalcy. Following improvement in the situation, the authorities have relaxed curfew for nine hours from 7 AM to 4 PM on Friday.
Curfew was imposed in the town last Saturday after anti-Telangana protests turned violent leading to arson, looting and attacks on public and private properties. The protestors also targeted the properties of PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana and his relatives. Although the town was witnessing different protests, they were intensified after Union Cabinet gave nod for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana.
So far, more than 300 people have been taken into custody for their alleged involved in the acts of violence. Large of number of security personnel have been deployed across the town and Vizinagaram district to control the situation. Although the authorities have relaxed curfew, Section 144 CrPc is in force.
Sources say that curfew may be completely lifted on Saturday if the situation continues to remain peaceful. (INN)
