Farmer’s Protest Turned Violent, Several Injured
The National Highway No. 44 witnessed a protest that turned violent today. Farmers were protesting against teh erratic power supply on the national highway near Narsing in Medak district. The protest turned violent when the police resorted to lathi-charge on the farmers who had completely deregulated the traffic on the highway.
The farmers gathered to protest demanding for a regular power supply during the Khariff season. When the police tried to regulate the traffic by vacating the protestors, the later teamed-up to destroy public property. At least 10 RTC buses are said to be damaged by the protestors. A few farmers pelted stones on the police personnel.
The protest led to a massive traffic jam on either sides of the NH-44 that connects Hyderabad and Nizamabad route.
