Dowry Harassment Claims Another Life

Hyderabad, Sept 11 (INN): A 28-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment of her husband and in-laws for more dowry.

The deceased, V Gauri, was married to Balu, an agriculturist of Muralinagar of Ranga Reddy district, about 12 years ago and the couple was blessed with two sons. However, Balu was allegedly harassing Gauri for the last few weeks asking her to bring more dowry from her parents.

Being unable to bear the harassment by her husband, Gauri consumed poison on last on Monday night. She was immediately rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she was declared dead on admission. The Kandukur police registered a case under Section 498A and 306 IPC against Balu and handed over Gauri’s body to her relatives on Wednesday after an autopsy was conducted on the same at the OGH mortuary.
