Centre Sanctions 737 more JNNURM Buses for AP

Hyderabad, Oct 10 (INN): The Government of India sanctioned 737 buses with estimated cost of Rs 315 crore under JnNURM for Andhra Pradesh.

In a communication to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Kamal Nath said that vision is to replicate metro experience on the city buses and make public transport by city buses as the preferred mode of travel over private vehicles as envisaged in the National Urban Transport Policy-2006. The Operationalisation of these modern ITS enabled buses will transform the urban transport sense across Andhra Pradesh. The Union Minister requested the Chief Minister to direct the officers concerned to take immediate action towards implementation of the project.
