Anna Movie Review

Vijay who scored a hit after Tupaki is gunning for gold with mass entertainer Anna. Let us see what impact he made on viewers with his performance.

Story

Businessman cum aspiring dancer in Australia, Vishwa (Vijay) is under the impression that he is the son of Mumbai based business man Ramamurthy (Satyaraj). However when he lands in Mumbai to introduce him to his lover Meera (Amala Paul) and her dad (Suresh), he comes to know that his dad is more popular as Anna, the mass leader. Even before he could digest this, Meera and her dad (Suresh) reveal that they are from Crime Branch and arrest Anna. What happens next should be enjoyed on silver screen.

Performance

Vijay gave neat performance in the film but couldn’t bring enough variations as business man and mass leader. Amala Paul is ok but there isn’t much scope for performance. Santhanam is hilarious in his role while Satyaraj and Suresh did well. Others acted accordingly.

Technicals

Nirav Ravi’s cinematography is just ok while GV.Prakash failed as music director. Same is the case with editing. Director lost plots after the interval. Slow pace of the second half spoiled the film.

Analysis

The film has all the elements to turn it as a mass entertainer. However director completely failed to elevate the heroism of Vijay. Interval bang is good but there are many scenes that test the patience of viewers. There is lot of lag between various scenes. Except for Vijay fans it is complete disappointment for movie lovers.

Verdict

Anna is too slow to enjoy.
