Why B-town Stars Are Not Meant For Daily Soaps?
Producer Ashwini Yardi who is making a comeback to TV with her new fiction ‘Jamai Raja’ believes that Bollywood stars cannot create the same magic in daily soaps. She has followed a successful stint in films. She said that the daily soaps on small screen are more content driven and actors are relatable.
Ashwini says that, “People have a different perception of a TV actor and a Bollywood star. Audiences identify more with TV actors but at the same time when they watch Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar they feel they are the heroes who are larger-than-life. So, Bollywood stars are not meant for TV.”
She further added, “In film, a hero should be more aspirational and on TV they should be more relatable. If such people come to your TV set then it will not be aspiration anymore”
Ashwini along with business partner Akshay Kumar has come up with their first TV venture `Jamai Raja`. They has given hits like `Oh My God!`, `Boss` and `Fugly`.
Ashwini is all set for her debut big-budget release `Singh is Bling`, directed by Prabhudeva and has Akshay in the lead. It is schedule to hit the screen on July 31, 2015.
