Latest in Cannes-Richa Chadda’s Maasan gets a Huge ovation

Cannes 2015 did have many Indian films being previewed and Richa Chadha’s Fly Away Solo (Maasan in Hindi) did get a huge ovation by the audience for almost 5 minutes, which drove the actress tear eyed with the emotions. Maasan is directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and co-produced by Aurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films, and stars Richa Chadda, Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi amongst others.

It’s the story of two individuals in love, one a small town orphan from a lower caste, and the other a receptionist from a priestly family. Maasan stands for crematorium in Hindi and this movie is about their journey through life’s up and down’s and their present troubles. The film is set in Varanasi as its base and is the film is an Indo-French co-production.
