John Continues With Soccer

John Abraham watched his first Football World Cup in 1982 when Italy took home the trophy. And from that day at the age of 10 John was hooked to soccer forever. Today he is the co-owner of Indian Super League (ISL) Guwahati franchise. And he is a brand ambassador of 2014 FIFA World Cup Marketing Campaign for Sony Six. He has established himself as a mascot of sorts for football in India.
Twitter was flooded with negative reactions after Abraham’s debut as a football expert on Sony Six’s show Cafe Rio.
John is all set to play the role of late Indian footballer Sibdas Bhaduri onscreen. Bhaduri captained Mohun Bagan in the historic 1911 IFA Shield final when they defeated the East Yorkshire Regiment to become the first Asian team win the competition.
His last film as footballer Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal(2007) was a dud on Box-Office, Abraham is upbeat about his new project and is also producing it. The film, titled 1911 is being directed by Shoojit Sircar and the shooting will begin in early 2015.
