Fears of Seemandhra Film Makers

Fears of Seemandhra Film Makers
Separation of the Andhra state was a political issue but it has affected every industry. The most hit may be the film industry. As the separation was not amicable there are a lot of apprehensions, particularly in the minds of Andhra people settled in Hyderabad. Most of the actors, technicians etc are the natives of Seemandhra. Film makers of Telangana, though they were quite few formed a separate ‘Telangana Film Chamber’ and criticized the Seemandhra film makers for harassing them. They also went ahead and announced on air that Seemandhra people have not given them an opportunity to grow in the industry. Now after the bifurcation, most of the industry people have to stay in Hyderabad itself as Seemandhra has to develop its own studios and shooting places. This has created a fear in the minds of Seemandhra natives that the Telangana makers may take their vengeance on them. Though this might only be a fear, they also went and met Telangana CM, KCR and expressed their fears. However, the details of the meeting have not been released till now.
Earlier even though Andhra Pradesh was separated from the Madras Presidency, the Telugu film industry stayed back in Chennai for more than 4 decades. ANR was one of the first to start a film studio in Hyderabad, nearly two decades after the state was formed. But there was no Telugu-Tamil issue. But now the situation is different. The hostile ways of the bifurcation has left fears in everyone’s minds. Though the Seemandhra makers find it difficult to believe in the promises of KCR, they don’t even want to stretch the issue further also. But one thing is for sure, the testing time for Tollywood has begun.
