‘Oopiri’ To Hit Screens On March 29

Vamsi Paidipally had approached Nagarjuna with a storyline and impressed him. He thought of the second lead role would fit for NT Rama Rao and he agreed too. Later, he had chosen Shruti Hassan to play opposite NTR. However, both NTR and Shruti opted out of the project to the reasons best known to them and none others. Karthi who is looking to do a straight film agreed to share the screen with Nagarjuna and Tamanna was selected opposite Karthi. The film is being produced by Prasad V Potluri on the banner of PVP Cinema. The pre-production works have begun in March last year which include the selection other artistes and technicians. Nagarjuna had announced that the final script is almost ready during the promotion of ‘Manam’ film. The movie featuring Nag and Karthi was titled ‘Oopiri’ in Telugu and it would be a bilingual project as the producers had agreed to do the Tamil version as well to capture the following of Karthi. So, the title of the Tamil version was put as ‘Thozha’. Nagarjuna will be seen as millionaire in this film. The film is the remake of a French movie ‘The Intouchables’. One more point to be mentioned here is that Anushka is playing a guest role as Nag’s ex-girl-friend while Nara Fotehi is doing an item number. The shooting of the film is almost complete and only a few patchworks remained balance. The film unit is firm to wrap up the shooting on Valentine’s Day. According to information the makers are planning to release the film on March 29.
