VVS Laxman steers india’s win over Oz in 1st test
In spite of severe back pain, injured VVS Laxman battled single-handedly steered India to victory over Australia with a gritty unbeaten 73 in a nail-biting first Test on Tuesday at Mohali.
Needing, 216 for a win, India were struggling at 55 for 4 overnight and were 124 for 8. Laxman with an unbeaten 73 and Ishant Sharma with 31 helped india reach the target. Sachin scored 38.
With the victory today, India took an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series and retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The the two sides now move to Bangalore for the second and final Test starting in Bangalore from October 9.
