Olympics: Paes and Sania Enter Into Quarterfinals
Leander Paes and Sania Mirza are in the hunt for a Olympic Games mixed doubles medal as the Indian duo defeated Serbia’s Nenad Zimonjic and Ana Ivanovic 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday and entered into quarterfinals, where they play Belarusian top seed Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi.
With all the Indian men’s and women’s doubles teams eliminated from the Games, Paes and Mirza are their country’s last hope of a medal in Tennis.
Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal has entered the women’s badminton semi final by defeating her Danish opponent Baun with the score 21-15, 22-20. She will next play China’s Yihan.
Vijender Singh gained a narrow 16-15 win over Terrell Gausha of the United States in the second round of the middleweight competition at London’s Excel Arena on Thursday and entered into quarterfinals.
