The Netherlands, considered as minnows, staged a major upset on the opening day of the Twenty20 World Championships when they beat hosts England by 4 wickets in a Group B match at Lord’s in London on Friday.
After restricting England 162 for 5, the Dutch side, overcame a slow start to overhaul the target in the last ball of the match.
The Dutch batted with determination to pull out a sensational victory, helped by contributions from Tom de Grooth (49) Peter Borren (30) and Ryan ten Doeschate (22 not out).
The Netherlands needed 7 runs off the last over, bowled by Stuart Broad and reached the target in the last ball when Doeschate and Edgar Schiferli completed 2 runs.
