Skipper Anil Kumble took 3 wickets on Friday as India’s touring side bowled out a Sri Lanka Board XI for 224 runs on the opening day of their three-day practice match. The Indians replied to be 4-1 at stumps.
Sri Lanka Board XI chose to bat after winning the toss but most of their batsmen failed except Thilina Kandamby (84) and Chamara Silva (68). Left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan and offspinner Harbhajan Singh also took 2 wickets each. The Indians faced only four balls in their innings, with medium pacer Dilhara Fernando getting the wicket of opener Gautam Gambhir.
The first test between Sri Lanka and India will start on Wednesday.
