IPL Cricket League may be postponed
The schedule of the second edition of IPL Cricket League commencing on April 10 and concluding on May 24 may be revised and the entire schedule of matches may begin after May 16.
In the wake terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore today, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram called the BCCI and IPL officials for discussions tomorrow.
The Home Minister feels that the voting in the general elections which would start on April 16 and end on May 13 require heavy security. Therefore, adequate security cannot be provided for IPL matches where top cricketers of the world participate.
Since the counting of votes has been scheduled for May 16, which also requires heavy security, the IPL league matches may start only from the last week of May.
