KKR gets Gambhir for Rs 11.04 cr

Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders, which did not fare well in the last two seasons, is the big spender of Day 1 of the IPL (edition 4) auctions.

KKR went all out to get Gautam Gambhir and the opener became the costliest cricketer in the IPL by fetching a whopping USD 2.4 million (approx Rs 11.04 crore). Gambhir has beaten the previous high set by the English duo of Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff (USD 1.55 million) last season.

KKR also got hard-hitting all-rounders Yusuf Pathan (Rs 9.66 crore) and Jacques Kallis (Rs 5.06 crore).

The fourth edition of IPL will be held from April 8 to May 20.
