Cricket writer Roebuck commits suicide

Peter Roebuck, who is widely respected for his writings on cricket published in most of the leading daily news papers in the world and sports magazines, committed suicide at his hotel at Cape Town on November 13. He has a considerable following in India among the cricket lovers.

The 55-year-old Britisher took extreme step after police reportedly questioned him on allegations of sexual assault. He was in South Africa to cover the ongoing cricket series between South Africa and Australia.

According to the Western Cape South Africa police, the incident occurred on Saturday around 9.15 p.m. local time.

However, there were international media reports stating that he jumped from his hotel room on the sixth floor while being interrogated by the CSA.
