It has taken London seven years and £9.3 billion to get the stage ready.
Unlike China, India is a sleeping giant when it comes to the Olympics but this time the Indian contingent, too, have arrived with hope in their hearts and fire in the belly. The Indian contingent has 81 athletes including 23 women
This is the 30th edition of the Olympic Games and 10,000 athletes from 204 countries are participating. There are 4,847 women athletes, the highest number in any Olympics.
