Australia wins 3rd Test against South Africa
In spite of Graeme Smith’s courageous act in coming out to bat with a broken finger, Australia won by 103 runs in the 3rd and final cricket Test on Wednesday in Sydney. By preventing a 3-0 win of the series by South Africa, Australia retained the top spot in ICC rankings.
Chasing a massive target of 376 for victory, the South Africans, who were 62 for one overnight, folded up for 272 just 10 balls before the scheduled close of play on the final day.
South Africa clinched the test series 2-1 after winning in the first two matches in Perth and Melbourne. The SA team became the first to hand over a series win against Australia in its home territory after 16 years.
