On the 4th day in the 3rd Test being played between India and New Zealand at Basin Reserve, Wellington, India tightened its grip on the match further, Continuing from the overnight score of 349 for 5, India declared its 2nd innings score at 434 for 7, with Dhoni unbeaten on 56, which set up an almost impossible target of 617 for New Zealand to win this match.

In their second innings, New Zealand were 167 for 4, with Taylor ( 69 not out ) and Franklin (26 not out) at the crease. The hosts have to score 450 in 90 overs at the run rate of 5 runs per over on the 5th day to win the match.

By catching the snick offered by McKintosh at 3rd slip off the bowling of Zaheer Khan, former captain Dravid became the world record holder by taking 182 catches in 134 tests played.
