India continued to hold its grip on the proceedings of the 3rd test being played at Basin Reserve Wellington. Continuing their overnight
partnership, Gambhir and Dravid put on 170 runs. At stumps on the third day of the test, India were comfortably placed at 349 for 5 wickets with an overall lead of 531 runs so far.
Gambhir scored one more century and he was out for 167. Dravid (60) and VVS Laxman (61) made useful contributions. The way that this third is poised, India are likely to post their first series win in 40 years. There are two more days left with half the Indian wickets still intact. The chances of India losing the test are remote and even a draw is unlikely with Zaheer and Harbhajan in top nick.
