India battling the follow on finished the fourth day at 252 for 2 with Gambhir (102) unbeaten on his 5th test century and Sachin Tendulkar(58) still batting getting his 52nd test fifty.

Earlier, the technically correct Rahul Dravid had given an exhibition of perfect defence to both pace and spin, with controlled aggression to score 62 in 220 balls before he became a victim of an errounous umpiring decision.

India now trail New Zealand’s first innings score of 619 for 9 after being all out for 305 in the first innings.

Tomorrow is the last day for the 2nd test being played at Hamilton Park, Napier.
