“Wall” Rahul Dravid struck his second consecutive century (144) as India reached a huge total of 642 in their first innings on the second day of the Kanpur test match. Sri Lanka were 66 for 1 at stumps.

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara (30 not out) and Tharanga Paranavitana (30 not out) were at the crease. Dilshan was out for a duck.

India had useful contributions from VVS Laxman (63), Yuvraj Singh (67) and Sachin Tendulkar made 40.

Rahul Dravid hit his 28th century to overtake Allan Border (11,174) in scoring most runs in tests. Dravid (11,182) is now fourth in the list topped by Tendulkar (12,917).
