For once, the Indian openers failed to give a good start. India were reeling at 155 for 6 in their first innings in reply to England’s 316 on day two of the first Test played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday. India now trailed by 161 runs with four wickets in hand.
MS Dhoni (24) and Harbhajan Singh (13) were at the crease at the end of day’s play. Yuvraj Singh (14) couldn’t continue his ODI form.
England bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals as India lost their top three batsmen at the paltry score of 37 before Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman (24) built a 50-run partnership in 86 balls to put Indian innings in control.
