10th ICC Cricket World Cup declared open

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially declared the 10th ICC Cricket World Cup open at a glittering ceremony at the Bangabandhu Stadium in Dhaka yesterday. ICC President Sharad Pawar welcomed the participating cricket teams. The 14 skippers made a heart-warming appearance in decorated cycle rickshaws.

There was 150-minute show that has a laser show coupled with music. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy rendered the racy theme of the competition. Bangladeshi singers, including Runa Laila, had the spectators dancing in rhythm. Legendary rock singer Bryan Adams belted out chart-busters including the popular ‘Summer of 69’ number.

The first match of the 10th ICC Cricket World Cup will be played between India and Bangla Desh on February 19 in Dhaka.
