YSRCP Flays Govt. for FSA

Hyderabad, July 1 (INN): Criticising the State Government for its proposal to impose one more dose of Fuel Adjustment Surcharge (FSA) to mop up Rs 542.12 crores, YSR Congress has said that the Congress has to pay a heavy price for the anti-people decisions it has been taking.

“YSR, who steered Congress to victory, had never increased the power charges or other taxes that would burden the common man but the State Government has so far increased power charges four times to nett about Rs 32,000 crores,” party MLA B Karunakar Reddy told reporters here on Monday.

The proposed FSA will burden the people who are in distress due to the incessant hikes in taxes, RTC bus fare, increase of registration charges and the State seems to be interested only in inflating its revenue without showing any concern to the problems of the people, he said.

“The state has mopped up additional revenue of over Rs 50,000 crores with the hike in VAT and registration charges and has a proposal to collect Rs 22,000 crores by giving clearance to permit rooms to wine shops.

The additional revenue does not reflect in any of the welfare activity. On the contrary it has erased or diluted all welfare schemes including Aarogyasri , fees reimbursement and free power. Such anti-people steps will spell doom to the Congress and people are looking towards YSR Congress Party as the only alternative,” Karunakar said.

The Centre has increased MSP for paddy by Rs 60 while the fertilizer and other input costs have gone up manifold. The hike in petro prices will have a cascading effect on essential commodities and the cost will go up further and people are angry with such anti-people policies, he said.

YSRCP being the only viable alternative, we have a moved a no-confidence motion against the Congress government and held dharnas against the hike in power charges. In the coming days people will give their mandate with clarity and decisively.

When asked on Telangana, Karunakar said, “It is for the Centre to decide on the issue
