YSRCP Condemns Diggy Remarks
Hyderabad, Oct 8 (INN): Taking strong objection to the remarks of AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh that the Party has given a letter for division along with TDP, YSR Congress has said, at no point of time did we accept the proposal of bifurcation and there has been no change in our stand of a united state.
“The letter we gave to Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is not a classified document and we have released it to press and nowhere in the letter did we support the division. It was N Chandrababu Naidu who gave a letter giving full consent to the division,” party leader Bhumana Karunakara Reddy told reporters here on Tuesday.
We have said that the Centre should act like a father and should take all issues into considerations and arrive at a decision which is acceptable to all stakeholders without injustice to any region. We did say that we respect the sentiment of Telangana but that does not mean that we are supporting the division.
“We respect the sentiment of Telangana even now but the focus of our letter is on equal justice to both regions if division is inevitable. As the Centre could not address to a single issue that would crop up with the division, our MLAs had quit ahead of CWC decision.
Our Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been on an indefinite fast in jail demanding to keep the state united and our Honorary President YS Vijayamma had also undertaken a similar fast before that. We have also demanded the government to convene a special session of the assembly ahead of the cabinet note and when that was not done our Party President is on a hunger strike again while YS Vijayamma has been to Delhi to muster the support of all political parties in our fight against the division.
In such a situation, if Divijay Singh releases our letter equating it with the letter given by TDP, it is an insult to the movement which is going strong in the Seemandhra region for over two months,” he said.
We strongly condemn the remarks of Digvijay Singh and his efforts to dub us as protagonists of a separate state are cheap gimmicks. At no point of time did we favour a separate state. Three parties, YSRCP CPI (M) and MIM are in favour of a united state. While the other two parties have issue statements to express their respective stand, we have been in the thick of the agitation and are with the people.
Trying to distort our letter at this juncture is highly objectionable as our letter is very different like chalk and cheese when seen with TDP letter which categorically supported the division.
Our stand is very clear that we are in favour of a united state and we have been very vocal about it and people are aware of our stand. Now if Congress tries to rub its decision on us it is nothing short of insulting the Seemandhra movement which is escalating by every passing day.
