YSR on power to farmers
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said that people are not willing to believe the spate of promises, particularly about free power, being made by the Telugu Desam Party.
He said the farmers were wiser than the main opposition party as they realised that the Telugu Desam Party was again trying to take them for a ride. The ryots know well which party has benefited them and who has failed to fulfill the promises made on the eve of elections, Dr. Reddy pointed out.
The Chief Minister said that the farmers had reposed confidence in the Congress and voted it to power while teaching a lesson to the Telugu Desam Party for saying that agriculture was waste.
He recalled that after the Congress government came to power, it initiated several steps to improve the power sector and was supplying, at a cost of Rs. 5,000 crore, 15,800 million units for 26-lakh pump sets. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensure quality power supply to consumers.
