The bronze statue of former Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy crash-landed from the pedestal and broke into three pieces during installation at TUDA crossroads in Tirupathi on Thursday.
The statue weighing 700 kg was lifted with the help of a crane and made to stand on the pedestal’s concrete base that was still wet on Wednesday night with the support of scaffolding logs.
The feet of the statue remained fixed on the pedestal, while the body fell vertically and broke into two pieces at the neck.
Is it an omen?
