All hell broke loose in Mahaboobabad, after Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy embarked the inter-city express train to commence his Warangal district Odarpu Yatra defying the Congress high command’s diktat.
There were wide spread agitation by Telangana activists from Nekkonda to Mahaboobabad. Trees were cut and placed on the railway track. Thousands of No-Jagan-yatra activists sat on the railway tracks.
Police resorted to lathi charge and later fired rubber bullets. In the firing, Telangana activist Prabhu died and around 20 others were severly wounded.
YS Jaganmohan Reddy was arrested, forcibly disembarked from the train and is being brought back to Hyderabad with police escort.. A case has been booked against him at Yadagirigutta.
The Telangana Joint Action Committee gave a Telangana Bandh call to be observed on Saturday, May 29, to protest against the police excesses in Mahaboobabad.
