WB: Corrupt practices by MP KS Rao’s company
The Progressive Constructions Ltd, owned by K. Sambasiva Rao, Congress MP, has been listed in the report prepared by the World Bank’s Institutional Integrity Unit on the “fraudulent and corrupt” practices by private Indian contractors working on national highway projects funded by it. The WB sought a thorough investigation into the matter.
The Indian Government audit body Comptroller and Auditor General has already flagged the issue of corruption in highway projects indicating leakages of larger amounts than what is referred by the World Bank report.
In fact, earlier the Progressive Constructions Ltd has been debarred for non-performance by the National Highways Authority of India ( NHAI).
