Violent incidents mar second day of Telangana bandh
Violent incidents and arson have occurred at various places in the Telangana region today, the second day of the 48-hour bandh called by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in support of its demand for a separate state. Students hurled stones at the police on being prevented from proceeding to the university campus and the police resorted to lathi charge at Manikeshwarnagar near Osmania University campus in Hyderabad.
Trains were stopped at Uppal in Karimnagar district. Sporadic incidents of violence and destruction have been reported from Mahboobnagar, Adilabad and Nalgonda.
Harish Rao and E. Rajender, TRS MLAs and G. Kishan Reddy, BJP MLA were taken into custody when they arrived at the Osmania university campus.
