UPA picks Pranab Mukherjee for presidential poll
The UPA has officially announced Pranab Mukherjee as their presidential candidate. Congress president Sonia Gandhi made the announcement today.
Pranab is expected to resign as finance minister on June 24. A large scale union cabinet reshuffle is expected after the election to the President of India.
UPA appears to be drifting away from Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and she may withdraw from the coalition. Mulayam Singh Yadav and his Samajwadi Party is expected to give outside support to UPA.
UPA is also sending emissaries to NDA to seek its support for Pranab Mukherjee.
