Two Hyderabad Labs to test swine flu
Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy reviewed the swine flu situation in the state along with S Sunderasan, the Centre’s nodal officer for swine flu and additional secretary in the petroleum ministry, along with the state officials at the Secretariat on August 13.
So far the Andhra Pradesh state does not have any facility to test the samples of suspected swine flu cases and samples are being sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in Delhi. Now, the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) and Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) in Hyderabad will conduct tests soon. The IPM lab, set up as per WTO standards following level 3 of biological safety norms, would get operational after it gets the necessary equipment from the central government.
