Hyderabad, August 27 (INN): The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee will organise a Peace Rally on September 7 and it would coincide with the public meeting being planned by the Seemandhra leaders at LB Stadium.
Talking to reporters after the TPJAC’s Steering Committee meeting at TNGOs Bhavan here on Tuesday, TPJAC Chairman Prof M Kodandaram said that the Peace Rally would start from City College in the Old City and culminate into a massive public meeting at Indira Park. He also announced that September 1-7 would also be observed as “Mulki Week”.
Kodandaram demanded that the Congress-led UPA Government take steps for the immediate implementation of decision taken by the Congress Working Committee and UPA Coordination Committee to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana State. He said that the Centre should introduce the Telangana Bill in the ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament. He said that the delay tactics should be avoided by the Centre in Telangana formation.
The TPJAC chief alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and DGP V Dinesh Reddy were biased towards Telangana people and leaders. He said that the Chief Minister and DGP should discharge their duties impartially without showing any inclination towards the Samaikhyandhra activists. Stating that the TPJAC would submit a memorandum to Governor ESL Narasimhan on the Chief Minister’s impartial attitude, he demanded that the DGP ensures security for Telangana employees working in Seemandhra region.
Kondandaram also alleged that a section of media was biased towards the Telangana people and were projecting them in a bad light. Citing an instance, he said some news channels have reported that Telangana employees attacked Seemandhra staff at Vidhyut Soudha on Monday. However, he claimed that the reality was entirely different as a watchman from Telangana region was attacked by some Seemandhra employees.
