Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister and JDS chief, on Monday announced the formation of the Third Front, an alliance of eight parties as a political alternative to the Congress and BJP.
The eight parties of Third Front are CPI, CPM, Forward Bloc, RPI, TDP, TRS, AIADMK and JDS.
The Third Front would be launched in Karnataka on March 12 with a massive public meeting in Tumkur, 50 km from Bangalore. This announcement by Gowda assumes significance in the wake of the Election Commission releasing the schedule for the General elections from April 16 to May 13.
Leaders of the eight political outfits of the Third Front will take part in the Tumkur rally.
