Hyderabad, Oct 10 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday expressed confidence that the Telangana resolution will be defeated in the State Legislative Assembly.
While holding discussions with the Samaikhyandhra Electricity Employees JAC leaders at the State Secretariat here on Thursday, the Chief Minister assured them that the resolution on Telangana would be defeated when it comes up before the State Legislative Assembly shortly. He also promised to allow the electricity employee unions to meet the Group of Ministers and explain them the problems of the employees relating to services and other issues.
It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister was successful in convincing the electricity employees to withdraw their five-day long strike against bifurcation of the State. He asked the employees to call off their strike in view of the sufferings of people without power.
Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty, Special Chief Secretary (Energy) M Sahoo, Transco CMD Munindra, Genco MD Vijayanand, Employees JAC Chairman Saibaba, Convenor P Srinivas Rao and others participated in the talks. The Chief Minister said people from all walks of life including patients, elderly people, children, farmers during crucial agriculture season, women, industrial units, private employees, small traders, petrol bunks, transport sector and others have been suffering hardships due to the ongoing strike. The severe cyclone which is likely to hit the State during the midnight of Friday will have an impact in coastal and north coastal districts.
Talking to reporters later, the Electricity JAC leaders said the decision was taken keeping in view the threat of the cyclone and also considering the assurances given by the Chief Minister to defeat the Telangana resolution.
