The Election Commission on Monday announced that the byelections from 10 of the 12 Assembly constituencies in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh will be held on July 27 and the notification issued on July 2.
The last date for filing nominations is July 9 and on July 10 the papers will be scrutinised. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is July 12. The poll will be held between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on July 27. The counting of votes will be taken up at 8 a.m. on July 30 and the electoral roll with respect to January 1, 2010, as the qualifying date will be published on June 25 in 10 Assembly constituencies going to polls.
Since election petitions were pending with regard to Vemulawada and Sircilla Assembly segments and the petitioners had sought the court to declare them elected after setting aside the elected candidates, the polls could not be held there as they would not come under the “clear vacancies and hence bypolls to these constituencies are not being held..
