The 48-hour Telangana bandh called by T-JAC near total in all the ten Telangana districts including Hyderabad. There were sporadic incidents of stone throwing and damage to some buses. There were clashes between students and police at the Osmania University campus. Barring these incidents, the bandh on the first day remained peaceful.
Normal life has been hit as RTC buses went off the roads. MMTS trains in Hyderabad did not ply. Transport services in Hyderabad and nine other districts of the Telangana region were paralysed as RTC employees also joined the non-cooperation movement. Almost all shops, business establishments and educational institutions in Hyderabad and many towns remained closed.
TRS MLA Harish Rao and T-JAC convenor Kondandaram had been arrested while they were leading rallies. T-activists took out rallies in many towns in Telangana districts.
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India (CPI) and other pro-Telangana parties and groups are participating in the 48-hour bandh demanding immediate introduction of Telangana bill in Parliament
