Former Supreme Court Judge Justice B.N. Srikrishna, heading the five-member committee, to go into the demands of “separate Telangana” and “united Andhra Pradesh”, has said that the situation in Andhra Pradesh had cooled down considerably after the committee began its proceedings. He ruled out seeking extension of time for completion of the proceedings. He was the chairman of important commissions before and he always kept his deadline.
Justice Srikrishna said, “As I said earlier, we will stick to the time-frame and complete the work and submit the report to the government by Decembe 31st this year. I will not ask for extension.”
Member-Secretary V.K. Duggal (IAS Rtd & former Home Secretert, GoI) said five consultants would be appointed next week to segregate the 11,000 petitions and prepare notes on them with comprehensive details. There will also be a team of translators.
