T-MLAs resignation: suit in Supreme Court
A petition, filed by the former MP, M. Narayana Reddy, was moved in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, contending that the resignations submitted by MLAs on the issue of separate Telangana state be deemed to have been accepted by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker.
The petition was mentioned before a Bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, which declined to advance the date of hearing from February 1 as listed by the registry.
Senior advocate Subodh Markandeya, who mentioned the petition on behalf of the petitoner, said MLAs belonging to Telangana, irrespective of their political affiliations, submitted their resignations to the Speaker, who acknowledged the receipt of 139 letters, but the Speaker neither acted nor sent them to the Assembly Secretariat.
