New Delhi, Sept 28 (INN): AICC General Secretary and Incharge of Andhra Pradesh Congress Affairs Digvijaya Singh categorically stated that the Congress party would never go back on its decision on formation of Telangana.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Digvijay Singh said that the Congress was a national party and it was not possible for it to reverse its stand on a policy decision. He said that all senior leaders from Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema were consulted before the Congress Working Committee took its decision in favour of formation of Telangana State. He said the Congress High Command was assured by all the leaders that they would abide by its decision on the statehood issue. Further, he said that there was unanimity among all political parties with regard to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana State.
Digvijay Singh, however, refused to react on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s outburst against the Congress High Command on the statehood issue. He said that he was getting the Chief Minister’s press conference translated and would react only after understanding it. He reiterated that Kiran Kumar Reddy is the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh and represents all three regions. (INN)
