Over 64 per cent of the electorate in the 12 assembly constituencies in the Telangana region cast their votes in the bypolls on Tuesday. The elections passed of peacefully.
The Nizamabad Urban constituency registered a poll percentage of 51.72. Chennur recorded the highest 74 per cent. The voter turnout in the other constituencies was: Sirpur 70%, Mancheriyal 71%, Yellareddy 70%, Koratla 62%, Dharmapuri 63%, Vemulawada 55%, Sircilla 60%, Huzurabad 69%, Siddipet 71.1% and Warangal West 53.83%.
The polling percentage was almost the same compared to the 2009 general elections as the total turnout that time was 66.32 per cent with Sirpur recording the highest — 80.07 percent and Nizamabad Urban the lowest — 39.53 percent.
