The Chalo Assembly call given by Telangana students joint action committee turned violent. The students who started a rally from the Osmania University campus were stopped by the police. There were incidents of stone pelting and the police fired tear gas shells. The Osmania University campus had been cordoned off by the police forces.
There were sporadic violence in various parts of Hyderabad. Some groups of students and advocates set fire to the railway reservation center at Necklace Road MMTS station and portions of a MMTS bogie near Jamai Osmania railway station. Some RTC buses were also damaged near Habsiguda.
There were pitched battles between the students and the security personnel throughout the day. In the violent incidents nine students and eight securitymen hurt.
As the roads leading to the Assembly were closed, traffic in the city had gone haywire and the roads were jammed for hours.
Around twenty students managed to reach the gates of the Assembly and raised pro-Telangana slogans. They were arrested and later released.
