The Telangana movement is taking an ugly violent turn with some local persons manhandling non-locals.
A written test was held for recruitment of 317 technical personnel at BHEL on Sunday, which was attended by more than 12,000 aspirants. However, the result was not announced on Monday, as expected.
Fearing that non-locals would grab their chance, more than 50 local persons formed a group, held a motorcycle rally from BHEL main gate to Keerthi Mahal in the township on Wednesday and attacked six non-locals. Knowing that some non-locals were residing in quarter no 849-D, around 15 persons entered the room, thrashed and forced them to leave. The non-locals in the room reportedly included two persons from Visakhapatnam and three from Kerala.
Two persons who came under attack were identified as Ramana Murthy and Naresh, both from Visakhapatnam district. Based on their complaint, police arrested seven persons and registered cases under IPC 341 and 506.
