Survey says no T sentiment
According to a confidential survey on the May 29 byelections organised by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, the Telugu Desam will stage a comeback in many constituencies in the Telangana region and is set to win at least one Lok Sabha and three Assembly seats in the bypolls. But the survey also sees the Congress making major gains in constituencies that it has not won in the past 20 years.
While the Telugu Desam will likely win in Dommata, Khanapur and Alair Assembly and Adilabad Lok Sabha constituencies, the survey says the Congress is ahead in Ramayampet, Vikarabad, Jadcherla and Medaram. According to the survey, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti will be victorious in Siddipet, Kamalapur and Dichpally Assembly segments and will win the Karimnagar and Hanamkonda Lok Sabha seats. It sees the Congress a close second to the TD and TRS in nine constituencies.
Surprisingly, the survey has the TRS coming in a poor third in Station Ghanpur and Huzurabad. The survey found that there is no strong sentiment in favour of Telangana or a wave against the government.
