Those of us who stumble upon election malpractices, including distribution of money to lure voters and other violations of Election Code, can now tip off the police by dialing toll-free telephone number 1090 which would be answered by personnel of district election offices set up by the Police Department from Today.
The AP Director-General of Police A.K. Mohanty announced that the telephone number 1090, which is already allotted to police for its crime stopper service, would be simultaneously used for election work.
The phone number would be common to all districts, except in the limits of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate where calls would have to be made to 23000389 or 9490617461.
The functioning of the district-level offices would be monitored by the Police Headquarters in Hyderabad from its control room (telephone number 23232363).
