Seemandhra Bandh Call Evokes Mixed Response
Hyderabad, July 12 (INN): The bandh call given by Samaikhya Andhra JAC, in protest against Centre’s possible move to divide the State, evoked mixed response in the Seemandhra regions.
A majority of educational institutions including all colleges under 13 universities remained closed on Friday. The universities have also postponed their PG counselling and exams in view of bandh. The shops and establishments too remained close in all the major towns of Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, Anantapur, Kadapa, Kurnool and other towns.
The public transport too was badly affected as the State-run RTC was unable run its service in several districts of Andhra and Rayalaseema region. Protest rallies and dharnas were also organised at several places demanding that the Centre keep the State united.
