Security Forces attack Maoists in West Bengal
Security Forces, comprising of state police, CRPF, BSF and special Cobra commandos lobbed tear gas shells and made a baton charge to break a human wall of children and women put up by Maoist cadres at Lalgarh.
Two rebels as well as a lensman accompanying the security forces were injured in the initial attack.
Operation Lalgarh’ has been launched with assistance of central security forces to reclaim the headquarters of Binpur 1 community development block in West Midnapore district, 200 km form state capital Kolkata from the Maoists.
However, hundreds of tribals carrying traditional weapons like bows and arrows, shovels, pickaxes and canes blocked the way of the security forces at Malida by felling big trees on the road and digging trenches on the roads to deny access to the security forces.
